To facilitate a collaborative approach to regional sediment management and coastal issues, the Lower Columbia Solutions Groups has coordinated a series of workshops on four issues. Although no two were the same, these “science-policy workshops” have brought together regional and nationally-known scientist and other natural resource management experts alongside local, state, and federal policymakers, resource users, and the public to work towards identifying areas of consensus to move the region forward. Many of these workshops have influenced specific LCSG-coordinated projects, as well as served as a prime driver for the development of the Regional Sediment Management Plan.
